The Dream Phase
Can You Dream Big?
Constructing new buildings or renovating old spaces can leave you drowning in thousands of questions. The process can seem daunting or overwhelming, like traveling without a map or even a trusty guide. The journey saps your energy for ministry and connecting with people. After walking this path with hundreds of churches, Mankin Media Systems recognizes the need for a trusted partner; a partner that sits down and engages in real face-to-face discussion. We call it the dream session. The dream session has a simple goal; discover how you work, and more important how you want to work. By listening, we want to understand how to change overwhelming to overcoming. We want to enable your team and volunteers to be more productive, produce better services, and love what they are doing because passionate people perform. The dream session collects the emotional language we then translate into technical specifications.
Sharing Your Dream
Our Dream session process is straightforward. We ask strategic questions that focus on the big picture. Where do you want to be in five years and what will you be doing? We aim to discover all the details of your scenario: What frustrates you about your current system? How do you plan to use a new system? What is your budget? What are the aesthetic and structural requirements of your space? Answering dream questions is fundamental to everyone sharing the same goals and understanding how the technical systems should operate. We use this meeting to define how long the journey might take and what the road map will look like. Our primary objective is to listen to your goals and dreams, then share our thoughts and impressions on the direction you need to go. The dream session determines the metric by which we measure the success and accuracy of the design. Without conducting a dream session any design will seem accurate but may not accomplish your long-term strategic goals. Eventually an inaccurate design will result in wasted time and effort and may cost you more money than originally planned. The dream session helps define project goals and allows us to create a preliminary scope.
Dreams To Reality
The dream session is about ideas, and we excel at turning ideas into reality. We want you to think big about your content, your messages and your potential. You'll exploit our knowledge and ability with big ideas and we'll help you create compelling content through a technical solution. The dream session will help you focus less on widgets and gear and more on how to communicate with your audience, after all you're the expert on your message. Letting us learn about how you communicate helps us know how to best facilitate your message. Once we understand your goals we provide you the language and documents to communicate your dream to volunteers and senior leadership. After conducting hundreds of dream sessions we're confident our process extracts great and executable ideas for your team.
Your Dream Roadmap
The Dream session can be included in your design fees, or broken out as a separate expense. While on location we'll gather requirements for your project, spends time with your staff and volunteers. The goal is to learn everything about your service, team, goals and plans. We capture the ideas generated from the meeting and superimpose a technical filter that asks: What is the best gear, solutions, methodology, and workflow that will work in your situation?
The Dream session product is a 2-5 page narrative summary of findings from our visit. It's your preliminary roadmap for the future and includes recommendations on directions your organization can take. After the Dream session most of our clients select our System Design and Five-Year Plan recommendation, which is the cornerstone in our 3D Process.
