Space is a premium in any environment, period, and you either have it or you don't. So what happens when 3000 college-age adults need a venue with an immersive environment rich with graphics, sound and lighting in a shared space? If you are The Vine, part of Southeast Christian Church in Louisville KY, you imagine a portable system with unconventional technology; a seamless, three-screen projection system on stage.
The Vine had a great dream but didn't know how to make it happen. When they called Mankin Media Systems with their dream we proceeded to make it reality. We recommended a novel system that would create the gigantic screen behind the band and the presenter. In order to assure the client that the suggested system would perform beyond expectations we flew a member of each team to Phoenix to demo the gear. The Vine loved the proposed hardware/software solution and we moved forward with upgrading the infrastructure. The existing video tielines in the shared space were insufficient.
To make the new technology work, the infrastructure needed upgrading and it required coordination between all technical teams. After completing design work and preliminary testing, Mankin Media Systems wired the stage for new video outputs including plasmas, projectors, cameras and other equipment. Testing and implementation without disturbing the ongoing main weekend services were critical to the success of the installation. We were able to install the upgraded infrastructure and configure the system without any service downtime for either group.
The results for The Vine are upgraded capabilities in a shared venue that allows the technical team to display amazing seamless images utilizing a removable video display system. While both technical teams gain the benefit of the upgraded infrastructure, The Vine is thrilled it doesn't have to meet in the parking lot.
